Description: Why surveying is so critical in real estate transactions specifically in the mountains/ foothills/ rural areas; what a survey is and types of surveys; what a survey is NOT; types of surveys that could be required or requested in a real estate transaction; when you might need each of these types of surveys; what is the guarantee level associated with each type of survey; why these surveys are different and why one costs more than the other; how does a surveyor interact with the county and the title company; access and easement issues; encroachment issues; existing legal descriptions, creating new legal descriptions; and, why we don't mark septic locations, lot lines and corners.

Kottke, American Surveys - In the course of the past 32+ years, Russ has been involved in boundary surveys, topographical surverys, ALTAS, Improvement Location Certificates, and most phases of land surveying allowed under the law. He has been qualilfied as an expert witness in Jefferson County District Courts and has taken numerous classes and seminars regarding the legal aspects of land surveying. Russ has been licensed in land surveying since 1988.
