Farmville is located in the south central area of Virginia, in Prince Edward County.
Farmville is located approximately 60 miles from Richmond, Lynchburg and Charlottesville.

 Prince Edward County was formed in the 1700s from Amelia County and named for Edward Augustus,
son of Frederick, Prince of Wales. Patrick Henry lived in Prince Edward County from 1786 to 1794.

 The climate in our area is relatively mild and temperatures average from 37 degrees
in the winter to 95 degrees in the summer.

 Prince Edward County has two well known colleges, Hampden-Sydney College and Longwood University.
