LICENSE RENEWAL REQUIREMENTS

FIRST LICENSE RENEWAL:  If this is your first license renewal, you will need to complete 30 hours of pre-approved mandatory post-licensing courses.

NOT YOUR FIRST LICENSE RENEWAL:  If this is NOT your first license renewal, you need to complete 16 hours of pre-approved continuing education courses. This consists of eight hours of required topics and 8 hours of real estate related electives. The eight hours of required topics include one hour each of Agency, Contracts and Legal Updates, two hours of Fair Housing, and three hours of Ethics.

BROKER LICENSE RENEWAL:  Brokers are required to complete 24 hours of continuing education courses consisting of the 16 hours listed above, plus eight additional hours of pre-approved Real Estate Management and Agent Supervision 
 

2016 UPCOMING EDUCATION CLASSES

Tuesday, March 22, 2016:  Donna Austin will be instructing the following classes:
9::00 to noon.  - Ethics and Standard of Conduct - This class is approved for 3 hours Ethics and will meet the NAR Quadrennial Ethics Requirement.  New members will be required to take this class as part of their orientation program.

1:00 to 3:00 p.m. - Fair Housing - This class is approved for 2 hours Fair Housing
3:00 to 4:00 p.m. - Time To Sign - This class is approved for 1 hour Agency 

Thursday, April 7, 2016:  Erin Barton will be instructing the following classes:
9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. - Critical Contract Issues:  This class will answer the most frequently asked topics on contract issues, such as short sale ratification, default, termination, release, and more.  Approved for 2 hours Contracts CE; 2 hours Current Industry Issues/Trends PL;
11:00 a.m. to noon - Sneaky Regs- Little Known But Important Regulations:  There are important regulations you need to know.  Learn what the regulations say about criminal convictions, referrals, disclosure of interest, agent/owner and online advertising, and more.  Approved for 1 Hour Legal Updates with Flood Content CE; 1 hour Broker Management
1:30 to 3:30 p.m. - Real Estate Laws You Need to Know:  Your real estate practice requires knowledge of a wide range of complicated laws.  This session will touch on hot-button topics that frequently come up and create confusion.  Topics include the Property Owner's Association Act, contracts, short sales, property management, antitrust law,and more. Approved for 2 hours Legal Updates with Flood Content CE; 2 hours Broker Management; or 2 hours Current Industry Issues/Trends PL

9:00 to 11:00 a.m. - Common Legal Hotline Questions and Answers:
 One of VAR's most important jobs is helping keep on the right side of the law.  Brokers have access to our Legal Hotline, but any licensee can attend this session to get the answers to our most frequently asked questions - and possible ask a few of your own.  Approved for 2 hours Legal Update with Flood Content CE; 2 hours Current Industry Issues/Trends PL; 2 hours Broker Management
11:00 a.m. to noon - Scams:  If it Sounds Too Good To Be True:  This course will cover six real estate scams that have been seen around the Commonwealth and ways to prevent licensees and their clients from being victimized.  Approved for 1 hour Legal Updates CE
1:30 to 3:30 p.m. - Disclosure Shall Set You Free:  This course will clear up common misconceptions in the areas of material adverse facts, incorrect information, selected agency disclosures, and much more.  Approved for 2 hours Legal Updates with Flood Content CE; 2 hours Current Industry Issues/Trends PL


 

 

 

Classes will be held at the Northern Neck Association of Realtors, Callao Professional Building, Lower Level, 268 Northumberland Highway, Callao, VA 22435.  Note:  Classes are free for Primary and Secondary members of the Northern Neck Association of Realtors®.  Cost for non-NNAR members is $35.
