First Time Home  Buyers - $7500 Tax Credit Now Available!

Congress has passed the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 which includes a first-time homebuyer tax credit. In essence, this an 'interest free loan' from the Federal Government.  In a nut shell, this tax credit will allow a 1st time home buyer to get a direct tax credit for 10% of the sales price of a home purchase between April 9, 2008 and July 1, 2009 up to a maximum of $7,500.  In the second year after receving the tax credit the home owner will have to start repaying the credit over a 15 year period or until the sell of the home, whichever comes first. Since most buyers are going to be receiving the full $7,500 credit, this means they will repay $500 per year. Of course, you should consult a professional tax advisor to ensure the maximum benefits to you.
